Deltona Regional Library announces September’s programs

The Deltona Regional Library, 2150 Eustace Ave., offers a variety of educational and entertaining programs for all ages.

Upcoming adult programs include:

  • Adult anime group: 2 p.m. Sundays, Sept. 4, 11, 18 and 25. Watch some of the newer and most popular anime shows.
  • English conversation hour: 2 p.m. Tuesdays, Sept. 6 and 20. People who are learning English as a second language can practice their skills, improve speaking confidence and meet new people.
  • Sit and be fit: 10 a.m. Wednesdays, Sept. 7, 24, 21 and 18. Pull up a chair and let staff guide you through a series of relaxing movements using the flow of breath. Bring water and dress comfortably. Registration is required; call 386-789-7207.
  • Plant clinic and lecture: 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 10. Bring your sick plants for a free checkup by Master Gardener Howard Jeffries. He will also discuss vegetable gardening and edible landscapes. Participants can exchange plants.
     
  • “What’s up, Doc?”: 11 a.m. Monday, Sept. 12. Watch this G-rated, romantic comedy starring Barbra Streisand and Ryan O’Neil.
  • Virtual bowling: 2:30 p.m. Mondays, Sept. 12, 19 and 26. Senior adults can play virtual games of bowling on the Nintendo Wii video game system.
  • Crafting at the library: 10 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 13. Use shaving cream and food dye to create colorful marble patterns on a wood plaque. Registration is required; call 386-789-7207.

  • Computer basics at the library: 10 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 15. Need help with basic computer skills? A reference librarian will lead a basic computer skills class that will teach the ins and outs of computer use.
  • Personal and home safety: 2 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 15 A Volusia Sheriff’s Office deputy will offer tips to reduce your risk of becoming a victim.
  • Crafting at the library: 10 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 22. Make a coaster out of a ceramic tile and decorate it using permanent markers and rubbing alcohol. 
  • “Bridges of Madison County”: 11 a.m. Monday, Sept. 26. Watch this PG-13 romantic drama starring Meryl Streep and Clint Eastwood.

Children’s programs include:

  • Outdoor storytime: All ages can take part in this program at 10 a.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays.
     
  • Recipes and Reads: 10 a.m. Monday, Sept. 19; 3 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 21; and 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 24. Children and teens can learn about kitchen basics and safety while learning how to make an English muffin pizza. Registration is required; call 386-789-7207.

Teen programs include:

  • Cup games: 3:30 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 7. Flip them stack them, blow them off counters. How many games can we play with a stack of cups and our imaginations? Gather your friends and find out.
  • Teen craft: 3:30 p.m. Wednesday Sept. 14. Teens can create an origami fidget spinning toy.
  • “Adventures in Babysitting”: 3:30 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 28. Watch this PG-13 moving starring Elizabeth Shue.
  • Crash Pandas: 3:30 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 21. Join an elite squad of raccoons to chase down some bear bandits in this role-playing game.
