Lake Helen library offers programs for all ages

Entertainment abounds at the Lake Helen Public Library, 221 N. Euclid Ave., which will offer a variety of free programs for adults and children in September.
Children’s programs include:
- Month-long treasure hunt: In honor of Mango’s Talk like a Pirate Day, the library will host a treasure hunt from Sept. 5 to 30. Kids can search the library any time of the day, and a grand prize will be given at the end.
- Lawn games at the library: 4 to 6 p.m. Tuesdays, Sept. 6, 13, 20 and 27. Kids of all ages can play a variety of outdoor games, weather permitting.
- Block party: 3:30 p.m. Thursdays, Sept. 1, 8, 15, 22 and 29. Kids cab build and play with Legos. All completed projects will be displayed in the children’s room.
- Little readers: 10 a.m. Fridays, Sept. 2, 9, 16 and 23. This interactive literacy program is designed for children ages 2 to 6 and their families. They will be introduced to a variety of literacy and social skills through stories, rhymes and music and other activities.
- Launchpad: 3:30 p.m. Monday, Sept. 12. Kids ages 8 to 13 can make invisible ink. Registration is required; call 386-228-1152.
Adult programs include:
- Sit and be fit: 11 a.m. Wednesdays, Sept. 7, 14, 21 and 28. Adults can join staff for a program focused on stretch and strengthening exercises that can be done from a seated position. Registration is required; call 386-228-1152.
- Crafternoon: 2 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 22. Create a book page pumpkin. Registration is required; call 386-228-1152.
- Yarn spinners: 11 a.m. Tuesdays, Sept. 6, 13, 20 and 27. All skills levels are invited to join this new crochet club in the library’s LaunchPad.
