Health happens at the DeLand library

Visit the DeLand Regional Library, 130 E. Howry Ave., for a variety of free, health related programs in October.
Author Penny Musco will share intriguing, yet little-known, facts about several parks in National Park Service at 1:30 p.m. Monday, Oct. 10. Musco, author of “Life Lessons from Our National Parks,” is a freelance writer with credits in AARP, Fodor’s, AAA publications and other periodicals.
Looking for a fun way to get fit? Hula hooping is a great way to lift your mood and burn some calories. Adults can learn how to hoop dance in this fun, interactive class at noon Thursday, Oct. 13. Hoops will be provided.
Learn how to eat healthy on a budget at 1:30 p.m. Monday, Oct. 17. A nutrition educator from the University of Florida/Volusia County Extension will explain how to get the most value out of your budget by making healthy, cost-cutting meals.
Bingo-cize with the Florida Department of Health – Volusia at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 19. The interactive game introduces exercises and healthy cooking ideas.
Halifax Health medical professionals will explain how to best manage diabetes at 10 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 10.
Attendees will be entered into a drawing for a gift basket from the Friends of the Deland Library. Attend multiple programs for more chances to win.
