Volusia libraries blast into space with new program

Posted On: February 8, 2023

The Volusia County Public Library will celebrate this year's Volusia Reads Together program with "Project Hail Mary" by Andy Weir. The series will begin March 4 and conclude with a final Space Day event April 1.

Numerous book discussions and space-themed events will be held in the community throughout the program. Additionally, the Little Theatre of New Smyrna Beach and the Port Orange Regional Library will host performances of an original play, "Moonsuit," written and directed by library employee Karen Poulsen.

Library Services Director Lucinda Colee said of the upcoming program, "Our goal is to create shared conversations around a centralized theme while hosting a series of events and activities that residents of all ages will find fun and exciting!"

Residents may pick up a program booklet at any of the county's libraries beginning Feb. 19. The booklet contains a list of over 200 programs, including community book discussions, film screenings, exhibits, crafts and music programs.
