Master naturalist Roger Fulton will share his top 10 favorite places to hike, bike, kayak or just hang out in the county. If you enjoy exploring nature and have a mild sense of adventure, you will enjoy getting to know more about these exciting places.

Lemonade Lecture: 1945: The year the war ended: 1 p.m. Saturday, March 4. The final year of World War II would prove to be the bloodiest and costliest since its beginning. Join Ryan Lowry to learn about the tough battles in the streets of Manila, the largest airborne drop in history beyond the Rhine River, the slugfest at Iwo Jima, policies that changed the world, and the horrors of the Holocaust. The presentation will also feature artifacts from the war.

Get stepping with line dancing lessons: 5:30 p.m. Thursdays, March 9 and 23. Line dancing is a great way to exercise your mind and body. Join DeBary Hall staff for a fun evening full of learning beginner line dances to various music genres. There is a $3 charge for each class.

Story time at DeBary Hall: 9:30 a.m. Fridays, March 10 and 17. Children are invited to Kids Corner, a free story time featuring stories, songs and activities. The program is designed for preschoolers, but children of all ages are welcome.

Native plant walk: 9 a.m. Saturday, March 11.  So, you’ve never heard of an epiphyte? Just look at the Spanish moss hanging from your trees. Epiphytes are nonparasitic plants, such as orchids and ferns, that grow on other plants. Learn more about these unusual plants with Master Naturalist Holly Giles. Join her on a guided walk around the grounds of DeBary Hall in search of moss, lichen and ferns as she discusses their interesting features.

Victorian tea tasting: 11 a.m. Thursday, March 16. Experience the elegance of a traditional Victorian afternoon tea with samplings, etiquette lessons and a house tour. Guests may sample two teas as hostesses dressed in Victorian clothing describe the history of tea and offer instruction on tea etiquette. Seating is limited and tickets must be purchased by Saturday, March 11. The cost is $20 per person. Tickets are nonrefundable. Call 386-668-3840 or email lperez@volusia.org to reserve your tickets.
