Opioid advisory board to hold first meeting

Posted On: February 20, 2023

The Volusia County Opioid Abatement Funding Advisory Board will hold its inaugural meeting at 9 a.m. Friday, Feb. 24, in the Dennis McGee Room of the Daytona Beach International Airport, 700 Catalina Drive, Daytona Beach.

The newly formed board will elect officers, identify its goals and strategies and discuss timelines to make funding proposals available. Additionally, members will receive presentations on opioid use, mental health needs and current gaps in service availability existing within the community.

The board has been established via an interlocal agreement between Volusia County and 13 eligible municipalities that participated in the opioid litigation and is a collection of appointed representatives, one from each of the government bodies.

The purpose of the board is to ensure that settlement funds address opioid-related impacts within Volusia County and make funding award recommendations to the Volusia County Council consistent with the Opioid Abatement Plan and the state agreement. Members will be tasked to fund services and programs available to and benefit all county residents.
