Volusia County celebrates National EMS Week

Posted On: May 23, 2023

Volusia County Government invites the community to celebrate National EMS Week by recognizing the hundreds of EMS staff throughout Volusia County who work tirelessly to provide life-saving services when every second counts.

"EMS is a highly skilled profession,” said Emergency Medical Services Director Kevin Captain. "This week is a time to recognize the men and women who render life-saving care in the field, often in difficult situations, and whose care and rapid transport make a profound difference.”

Throughout the week, posts about various EMS-related topics will be published on the county’s primary and the EMS Division’s Facebook accounts.

The division will host award ceremonies from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m., Wednesday, May 24, and Friday, May 26, at the Volusia County Historic Courthouse, 125 W. Indiana Ave., DeLand, to recognize those employees who have gone above and beyond the call of service.

Two or more members of the Volusia County Council may attend the ceremonies. Their presence and participation may constitute a public meeting for purposes of Florida Statutes Section 286.011.
