18 cooling stations open in Volusia County

Volusia County Emergency Management officials continue to monitor the excessive heat conditions across the county as the heat index is still topping 100 degrees every day.

Cooling stations are open at these locations:

• All 14 branches of the Volusia County Public Library during normal business hours
• The Bridge shelter, 421 S. Palmetto Ave., DeLand: noon to 5 p.m. daily through Aug. 23
• Ponce Inlet Town Hall, 4300 S. Atlantic Ave.: 11 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday through Aug. 25
• Ponce Inlet Community Center, 4670 S. Peninsula Drive: 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. seven days a week through Aug. 25
• Salvation Army, 1555 LPGA Blvd., Daytona Beach: 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday from Aug. 21 to 31
