Fall Into Fun at DeBary Hall this November

Native Plant Walk: 9:30 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 2. Join Holly Giles, master naturalist and environmental specialist for a walk on the grounds of DeBary Hall. Attendees will explore the local ecosystem of native and non-native species and select specific specimens for closer examination under microscopes. Children over 12 are welcome if accompanied by an adult.

Get Stepping with Line Dancing Lessons: 5:30 p.m. Thursdays, Nov. 2, 16, and 30. Line dancing is a great way to exercise your mind and body. Join DeBary Hall staff for a fun evening full of learning beginner line dances to various music genres. There is a $3 charge for each class. Registration is required for line dancing; call 386-668-3840 or email lperez@volusia.org to sign up.

Historic Bike Tour: Ride the East Central Regional Rail Trail: 9 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 8. Take a free 15-mile guided bike tour along the East Central Regional Rail Trail, starting at Green Springs Park and ending at Guise Road. Participants will learn about local history, native plants, and the water quality of Green Springs. Bring your own bicycle and helmet, make reservations by calling 386-668-3840 or emailing lperez@volusia.org, and meet at Green Springs Park, 994 Enterprise Osteen Road, Deltona.

Story time at DeBary Hall: 9:30 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 9, and Friday, Nov. 17. Children are invited to Kids Corner, a free story time featuring stories, songs, and activities. The program is designed for preschoolers, but children of all ages are welcome.

Lemonade Lecture: Spirit of the Greatest Generation: 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 11. Join John Mann, Ponce Inlet Lighthouse lead docent, for a presentation that will celebrate and commemorate the contributions of those who served in support on the home front during World War II. This presentation is part of the free Lemonade Lectures series sponsored by Volusia County. Light refreshments and lemonade will be served.

Master Gardener: Herb Your Enthusiasm: 1 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 14. Sit down with a local master gardener herb specialist as they share the when and where of herb planting and learn what to do with your herbs once they are ready to harvest.

Lemonade Lecture: Florida’s Trail Mix: 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 18. From St. Augustine to Palatka, join Edith Kohlbach, a German snowbird, as she discusses a variety of Florida’s multipurpose trails. This presentation is part of the free Lemonade Lectures series sponsored by Volusia County. Light refreshments and lemonade will be served.
