Get Into the Holiday Spirit at DeBary Hall this December

Story time at DeBary Hall: 9:30 a.m. Fridays, Dec. 1 and 8. Children are invited to Kids Corner, a free story time featuring stories, songs, and activities. The program is designed for preschoolers, but children of all ages are welcome.

Santa’s Breakfast: 9 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 2. Kick off the holiday season by feasting on pancakes with Santa Claus. Breakfast will be served promptly at 9 a.m. and include pancakes, fruit and more. Afterward, Santa will tell Christmas tales and pose for photos. Children will also make a holiday craft and sing holiday songs. Seating is limited, and tickets must be purchased by Saturday, Nov. 25. The cost is $15 for adults and $10 for children ages 3 to 12. Due to space limitations and to make sure as many children as possible have the chance to visit with Santa, we kindly request that each family limits their adult tickets to two. Lemonade Lecture 1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 2. Florida author, Rebecca J. Johnston, will speak about WWI, Floridians returning from the war, prohibition, the Bonus Army, the Labor Day Hurricane of 1935, and the process of writing these topics into her novel, Not to Keep. This presentation is part of the free Lemonade Lectures series sponsored by Volusia County. Light refreshments and lemonade will be served.

Holiday Candlelight Tours: 6 p.m. and 7 p.m. Friday, Dec. 8, and Saturday, Dec. 9. Explore DeBary Hall Historic Site during holiday evenings when candlelight will fill the 19th century mansion with a warm glow, accentuating its historic treasures and Christmas decorations. Master Gardener: I Have a Poinsettia, Now What? 1 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 12. Join the master gardeners for a festive presentation on what you can do with your plants after the holidays.

Get stepping with line dancing lessons: 5:30 p.m. Thursdays, Dec. 14 and 28. Line dancing is a great way to exercise your mind and body. Join DeBary Hall staff for a fun evening full of learning beginner line dances to various music genres. There is a $3 charge for each class. Holiday Teas: 11 a.m. Friday, Dec. 15, and Saturday, Dec. 16. Experience the elegance of a traditional Victorian tea with samplings, etiquette lessons, and house tour. Guests may sample two teas as hostesses dressed in Victorian clothing describe the history of tea and offer instruction on tea etiquette. All of this while enjoying holiday décor at DeBary Hall. Seating is limited, and tickets must be purchased by Saturday, Dec. 8. The cost is $20 per person. Tickets are non-refundable. Call 386-668-3840 or email lperez@volusia.org to reserve your tickets.

Lemonade Lecture: Who Left Those Footprints? 1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 16. Join Master Naturalist Joan Ferrell as she talks about a variety of wildlife in Florida and how to identify their tracks. This presentation is part of the free Lemonade Lectures series sponsored by Volusia County. Light refreshments and lemonade will be served.
