New Pickleball Courts at Chuck Lennon Park Make a Dill-lightful Debut
Posted On: November 9, 2023
Pickleball enthusiasts have a reason to celebrate as Volusia County opens two brand-new pickleball courts at Chuck Lennon Park in DeLeon Springs. The courts are a response by the community to the growing demand for pickleball in the area and demonstrate the County’s dedication to promoting health and community engagement. During construction, the County also renovated an existing tennis court.
"We're thrilled to introduce these new pickleball courts and tennis court to our community," said Volusia County Parks, Recreation and Culture Director Tim Baylie. "The courts will be a hub of activity and a source of enjoyment for our residents and visitors for years to come."
Pickleball, a rapidly growing sport, has gained immense popularity due to its accessibility and appeal to players of all skill levels. The new courts feature an oversized playing area and premium surface and are just a short drive from neighboring towns. These enhancements were funded through the Volusia ECHO Program (Environmental, Cultural, Historical, and Outdoor) and park impact fees.
