LEC Plans Winter Break Camp for Kids

Children ages 7 to 12 can “dig through time” during a winter break camp that will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Dec. 18 through 22 at Lyonia Environmental Center (LEC), 2150 Eustace Ave., Deltona.
Campers will learn about Florida’s early history with entertaining lessons dedicated to archaeology, Native American tribes, Spanish exploration, plundering pirates, and early settlers. Activities will include nature hikes, games, experiments, science, and arts and crafts.

Lyonia Environmental Center offers insights into Volusia County’s fragile ecosystems through hands-on displays and educational programs. It’s part of the Deltona Regional Library complex at 2150 Eustace Ave., Deltona. Hours are 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday. Admission is free.
