Posted On: January 17, 2024

Get back to nature with Green Volusia Volunteers and Be Floridian Now, which are planning two outdoor volunteer opportunities in February.

Walk and weed at Gemini Springs: 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 3. Help remove the invasive Caesar weed from Gemini Springs Park, 37 Dirksen Road, DeBary. After weeding, participants will learn about birds, wildlife, and what is affecting the water quality of the springs during a waterfront walk along one of the trails. Meet in the smokehouse pavilion past the playground. Bring garden gloves. All ages are welcome.

Walk and weed at DeBary Hall: 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 17. Help pull weeds, trim shrubs, and get the landscape in shape. After weeding, the group will walk around the property and learn about the history of the estate’s landscape and Florida native plants. Wear closed toe shoes and bring garden gloves, a hat, water, and sunscreen. Meet at DeBary Hall Historic Site, 198 Sunrise Blvd., DeBary.

All ages are welcome. Reservations are required; contact Holly Giles at hgiles@volusia.org or 386-736-5927, ext. 12330, or search for Green Volusia activities on Eventbrite.com.
