Today marked a milestone for the DeLand community as officials gathered to celebrate the recent opening of the Blue Lake Avenue Extension. The ribbon cutting ceremony highlighted the collaborative effort toward enhancing the area's infrastructure. Residents in the area now have safer and more efficient travel options. Most importantly, the extension provides a new access point for law enforcement and emergency services, ensuring quicker response times during critical situations. The new two-lane road also includes the addition of a traffic signal on State Road 472, giving Victoria Park residents the ability to connect to 17-92 and Interstate 4.
During the ribbon cutting ceremony, the president of the Victoria Park Homeowners Association, Connie Tollakson, shared, “This road is very crucial for the residents, and I thank everyone who was a part of this project and made it happen.”
Additionally, Volusia County Director of Engineering and Construction, Tadd Kasbeer, applauded the work of the organizations involved in bringing this project to fruition. Kasbeer stated: “This project would not have been possible without the Volusia County Council, county manager and deputy county manager, City of DeLand, the engineering team with Consor Engineering, the Ford family, P&S Paving, and of course, the support of the community. This project highlights our dedication to future collaborations to meet the evolving needs of Volusia County residents.”
