Citrus for Homeowners 101 with UF/IFAS

Citrus enthusiasts and homeowners are invited to the upcoming Citrus for Homeowners 101 class from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, May 11, at the UF/IFAS Extension Volusia County Office Auditorium, 3100 E. New York Ave., DeLand. This comprehensive workshop is designed to equip participants with the knowledge and skills needed to grow and care for citrus trees right in their backyard.
From selecting citrus varieties to proper planting techniques, attendees will gain invaluable insights from experts in the field. Speakers will cover a wide range of topics, including nutrition, disease management, weed control, and the selection of dooryard fruit varieties tailored to local climates.
Registration is open now through May 3 with a $80 registration fee. The class will provide participants with a citrus tree (Huanglongbing tolerant), a protective covering, and a comprehensive home citrus guidebook.
