Join Hands to Clean Up Volusia’s Beaches After Memorial Day

Posted On: May 15, 2024

Volusia County invites residents and visitors to join Keep Volusia Beautiful’s Beach Cleanup, scheduled from 8 to 10 a.m. on Tuesday, May 28, at Winterhaven Park, 4589 S. Atlantic Ave., Ponce Inlet. This important community event follows Memorial Day weekend, aiming to remove any leftover debris and trash to preserve the natural beauty of our beaches and protect marine wildlife.

"The aftermath of busy holiday weekends can be challenging, but with community involvement, we can restore and maintain the pristine condition of our beaches," said Solid Waste Management Specialist Michael Nahirny. "This event is a great opportunity for individuals and families to engage in a meaningful environmental initiative while enjoying the beauty of our coastal environment."

Participants are encouraged to arrive a few minutes before the event begins to receive necessary supplies, including grabbers and buckets, and to form groups for an organized cleanup effort. Although RSVPs are not mandatory, they are recommended to ensure sufficient supplies are available for all volunteers. Interested parties can RSVP by emailing volusiarecycles@volusia.org. For additional details or inquiries, contact Michael Nahirny at 386-943-7889 or mnahirny@volusia.org.
