Volusia County Celebrates National EMS Week
Posted On: May 17, 2024
Volusia County invites the community to celebrate National Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Week, May 19 to 25, by recognizing the hundreds of EMS staff throughout Volusia County who work tirelessly to provide lifesaving services when every second counts.
"EMS is a highly skilled profession,” said Emergency Medical Services Director Kevin Captain. "This week is a time to recognize the men and women who render lifesaving care in the field, often in difficult situations, and whose care and rapid transport make a profound difference.”
Throughout the week, posts about various EMS-related topics will be published on the EMS Division’s Facebook account. Following the national theme, “Honoring the Past, Forging the Future,” the division will look back at its previous incarnations as Beacon Ambulance and EVAC and build on current efforts to modernize and streamline services.
The division will host award ceremonies at 6 p.m. May 22 and 24 in the Volusia County Historic Courthouse, 125 W. Indiana Ave., DeLand, to recognize those employees who have gone above and beyond the call of service.
