Volusia County Council Directs Staff to Evaluate Alternative Sites for Motocross Facility

The Volusia County Council unanimously voted against a potential site west of Port Orange on Tomoka Farms Road for a motocross facility during its May 21 meeting. The council subsequently directed staff to explore and evaluate alternative locations within the county.

Once alternative sites have been identified, each will be evaluated using a variety of criteria, and staff will present the new options at a future County Council meeting. The council will consider them, and if one or more is amenable, a public meeting will be organized to allow residents to learn about the project and offer feedback.

One of the council’s strategic goals is to develop and expand recreational opportunities for Volusia County residents. The proposed motocross project remains conceptual, with no funding approval from the council.
