Restored ADA Beach Access Points Welcome Visitors for Memorial Day Weekend
Posted On: May 24, 2024
Visitors to Volusia County beaches this Memorial Day weekend will experience enhanced accessibility. Crews have fully restored the ADA-compliant access structures at Argosy Park, Dahlia Avenue Park, the central area of Mary McLeod Bethune Park, and Kingfish Avenue, which Hurricanes Ian and Nicole had damaged.
"As we look forward to a busy summer season, the restoration of these assets marks another step forward in our ongoing recovery efforts to enhance beach accessibility and visitor satisfaction," said Coastal Director Jessica Fentress. "We appreciate the patience and support of our community as we restored these access points."
The Volusia Beaches app, which offers real-time updates on beach access and safety advisories, remains a resource for those looking to enjoy the County's beaches. It provides up-to-date information on which access points are open and the locations of staffed lifeguard towers.
