County Council to Dedicate Courthouse to Steven Henderson

The Volusia County Council will honor the late Judge Steven C. Henderson during a dedication ceremony at 5 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 15. They will join the judge’s family in unveiling a bronze plaque changing the name of the former Volusia County Courthouse Annex to the Steven C. Henderson Judicial Center. The dedication ceremony will be held inside the courthouse at 125 E. Orange Ave., Daytona Beach.

Henderson worked as a prosecutor for the Seventh Judicial Circuit for eight years before being appointed to a county judgeship in 2012 and a circuit judgeship in 2017. His colleagues have described him as a man of integrity, compassion, fairness, and compassion. They also noted that he demonstrated a strong command of law and procedure as he presided over family law cases.

He died in 2021 at the age of 49 and is survived by his wife, Janet, and their six children, Jackson, Sadie, Audrey, Justin, Ty, and Chase.
