Volusia County Under Hurricane Warning and Storm Surge Warning Ahead of Hurricane Milton

Volusia County is under a Hurricane Warning and Storm Surge Warning as Hurricane Milton approaches Florida. Governor DeSantis issued an executive order declaring a state of emergency that included Volusia County, and Volusia County declared a local state of emergency in preparation for Hurricane Milton. The Volusia County Citizens Information Center, 866-345-0345 is open until 7 p.m. today and will begin 24-hour operations starting at 7 a.m. tomorrow, Oct. 9, to provide information on safety protocols, evacuation routes, and community support services during Hurricane Milton.

The Volusia County Emergency Operations Center is activated and fully staffed with relevant emergency support functions engaged to coordinate the response. Residents are encouraged to download the Volusia Emergency Management app, follow Volusia County on social media, subscribe to the county newsletter, and visit www.volusia.org for the latest updates.
