Be Floridian Now and Green Volusia Volunteers Programs

Join Be Floridian Now and Green Volusia Volunteers for programs about native plants and protecting our waterways this December. All ages are welcome, and children must be accompanied by an adult. Be Floridian Now Plant Like a Floridian Workshop and Garden Stroll:
When: 10 a.m. to noon Friday, Dec. 6
Where: Sandra Stetson Aquatic Center, 2636 Alhambra Drive


Join Environmental Specialist Holly Giles as she talks about how to incorporate Florida native plants in your landscape and ways you can help protect our water quality. Then, she will lead a stroll through the native plant garden and showcase how to create holiday decorations with items found outdoors.

Be Floridian Now Plant Like a Floridian Workshop:
When: 2 to 3 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 17
Where: New Smyrna Beach Regional Library, 1001 S. Dixie Freeway


Join Environmental Specialist Holly Giles as she talks about Florida native plants and protecting our waterways. The workshop will include a live demonstration of various arrangements of native, non-native, and invasive plant species. Giles will demonstrate how to make an effective bug repellent from Florida native beautyberry.

Green Volusia Volunteer Native and Invasive Plant Stroll:
When: 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, Dec. 14
Where: DeBary Hall Historic Site, 198 Sunrise Blvd


Join Holly Giles, an environmental specialist with Volusia County, for a guided nature stroll to identify native and non-native plant species and their history in our area. Help remove the invasive species from the landscaping around the stables, then create your own holiday decoration from natural finds.
