FEMA Extends DRC Operations in Daytona Beach through Dec. 14

FEMA has extended the closing date for its Disaster Recovery Center (DRC) at the John H. Dickerson Community Center, 308 Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd., Daytona Beach. Initially set to close on Saturday, Dec. 7, the center will now remain open through Saturday, Dec. 14, due to high usage. The center operates daily from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.

As of this week, more than 43,000 individuals and households in Volusia County have applied for FEMA assistance following Hurricane Milton. To date, FEMA has approved over $26 million in aid for residents in the county.

The DRC provides residents an opportunity to meet one-on-one with representatives from FEMA and other disaster assistance organizations, including the U.S. Small Business Administration and the Red Cross. These agencies offer personalized support and guidance on available recovery options.

Volusia County residents affected by the hurricane are encouraged to visit the center if they have yet to apply for assistance. Applications can also be submitted online at www.disasterassistance.gov, through the FEMA mobile app, or by calling FEMA’s helpline at 800-621-3362. The deadline to apply for FEMA assistance is Jan. 7, 2025.
