Debris Drop-off Sites to Close as Hurricane Cleanup Nears Completion
Posted On: December 6, 2024
As the number of residents utilizing Hurricane Milton-related debris drop-off sites has significantly decreased recently, Volusia County will permanently close its five drop-off locations at 5 p.m. Monday, Dec. 9. The sites, which were established to assist with debris removal following the storm, include the following locations:
- 1360 Veterans Memorial Parkway, Orange City
- 1990 Air Park Road, Edgewater
- Tomoka Landfill, 1990 Tomoka Farms Road, Port Orange
- Old Plymouth Landfill, 1991 W. Plymouth Ave., DeLand
- 330 N. State Road 415, Deltona
Debris removal contractors and County crews will continue collecting debris in unincorporated areas and along County-maintained roads within city limits. To date, more than 315,000 cubic yards of debris have been collected. The County anticipates completing debris removal operations by the end of the year, well ahead of Governor DeSantis’ Jan. 11, 2025, deadline. This timeline ensures the County will qualify to request a 100% reimbursement from FEMA for debris collection efforts.
Residents in unincorporated Volusia County and those along County-maintained roads within city limits are encouraged to report any remaining debris by calling the debris hotline at 833-843-2985. The hotline is open daily from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. until further notice. Residents living within city limits should contact their local city government for debris removal assistance.
