'Camouflage to Corporate' Workshop Will Help Employers Tap into Volusia’s Veteran Talent Pool

More than 50,000 veterans call Volusia County home, bringing leadership, discipline and specialized technical training that many employers struggle to find elsewhere. A workshop in September will show local businesses learn how to connect with that talent.
Local employers can learn how to recruit, hire and retain military talent during a Camouflage to Corporate workshop and training program from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 17, at the Ocean Center, 101 N. Atlantic Ave., Daytona Beach. Registration begins at 9 a.m. There is no charge for attendance.
Volusia County Veterans Services is partnering with NXT Mission and CareerSource Brevard Flagler Volusia to present the program, designed to engage employers, educators and organizations in developing strategies for hiring and retaining military and veteran personnel. Topics will include best practices for hiring veterans and military spouses – a workforce segment that often faces unique employment challenges during frequent relocations – along with workforce partnership development, employer education and resources, and veteran retention strategies.

The workshop is part of Volusia Values Veterans, a program launched last year to transform Volusia County into Florida's premier veteran-friendly community through a coordinated framework of services, recognition, and opportunities for those who served.
