Volusia County to Enhance Silver Beach Access Ramp with a Series of Upgraded Features
Posted On: October 12, 2026
Volusia County will soon begin a major enhancement project at the Silver Beach access ramp in Daytona Beach to modernize infrastructure, improve resilience to coastal storms, enhance accessibility, and create a more welcoming experience for residents and visitors. To accommodate construction, the County will temporarily close the ramp to pedestrians and vehicles beginning Oct. 19. The closure is expected to remain in effect through early 2027.
The project will deliver a variety of infrastructure and accessibility upgrades, including reconstructing the concrete ramp, relocating new family-style restrooms farther up the ramp to reduce coastal storm impacts and improve resiliency, adding new sidewalks and curbing, and updating lighting and electrical components. Additional work includes structural enhancements, landscaping, and finishing touches that will improve the facility's appearance and functionality.
Together, these upgrades will help ensure the access point continues to serve residents and visitors for years to come. The project reflects the County's continued investment in maintaining and improving its beach access facilities for the beachgoers who enjoy Volusia County's coastline each year.
During construction, residents and visitors are encouraged to use other available beach access points, including the International Speedway Boulevard access ramp. The Volusia Beaches app can help beachgoers locate additional nearby alternatives and plan their visits while work is underway.
