Main Street Bridge in Daytona Beach to Temporarily Close for Scheduled Maintenance
Posted On: November 2, 2026
The Main Street Bridge in Daytona Beach will temporarily close Tuesday, Nov. 3, to allow crews to complete scheduled bridge deck maintenance. The closure is expected to remain in effect through mid- to late December, weather and other conditions permitting.
The project involves replacing a section of the bridge's concrete deck to its full depth, along with the adjacent sidewalk and railing on the eastbound portion of the bridge. The work is part of the County's planned, routine maintenance efforts to preserve its transportation infrastructure and support the bridge's continued operation.
To accommodate the work, Volusia County will close the Main Street Bridge to all vehicular and pedestrian traffic between North Halifax Avenue and Bowman Avenue. The closure will remain in effect 24 hours a day throughout construction. Motorists will need to use alternate routes to cross the Halifax River, and crews will install detour signs to direct traffic around the work area.
