Fleet Management
Mission: To establish efficient and effective county fleet services by providing customer agencies with safe, reliable, economical, environmentally sound transportation and related support services that are responsive to the needs of customer groups and that conserve vehicle value and equipment investment.
Fleet Management's primary objective is to control the overall cost of operating and maintaining the county fleet of vehicles and equipment, to maintain vehicles and equipment in a manner that extends their useful life, to control the growth in size of the fleet, to standardize the composition of the fleet and to accurately budget for maintenance and replacement costs.
A vehicle replacement program has been developed that determines the replacement dates for vehicles. The criteria for replacement include age, usage and maintenance costs. In general, vehicles are replaced at six years and/or 100,000 miles. All new purchases for vehicles are part of the budget cycle and are coordinated through Fleet Management for recommendation.
