Ian Update 29: 90 cats and dogs rescued

Posted On: September 30, 2022

Volusia County Animal Services, the Southeast Volusia Humane Society and the Halifax Humane Society teamed up to evacuate 71 cats and 19 dogs from the Edgewater Animal Shelter Thursday evening after the shelter had taken on water. The dogs were taken to the Halifax Humane Society, and the cats are being housed at the Southeast Volusia Humane Society.

Many of these pets are available for adoption. If you would like to open your heart and home to a four-legged victim of Hurricane Ian, contact the Halifax Humane Society at 386-274-4703 or the Southeast Volusia Humane Society at 386-428-9860.

If you see a pet in need or need pet-related resources, call Volusia County Animal Services at 386-248-1777.

Video of the rescue is available at this link for the next seven days: https://we.tl/t-wkN54bMhfz
