Open house at Osteen fire station

Posted On: February 14, 2020

Volusia County’s Department of Public Protection will host an open house at noon Thursday, Feb. 20, at Volusia County Fire Rescue Station 36,180 N. State Road 415, Osteen. The event celebrates the dedication of a new tender engine, a newly housed ambulance, and tours to showcase the recently remodeled station.

The open house will begin with a ceremonial wash down and push in ceremony of the tender engine and ambulance, following a long-standing firefighting tradition from when fire pumpers were pulled by horses.

The new tender engine boasts a 2,175-gallon water tank with the capability to pump 1,250 gallons of water per minute. The advanced life support ambulance proudly displays its designation as Medic 36 as it is now housed at Station 36, improving the service delivery to area residents.

Refreshments will be served after the dedication ceremony. The free event will also include an open house of the station, which recently underwent a major remodeling project.
