ORIGINAL:

Volusia County Fire Rescue is actively fighting a 250-acre wildfire off Pell Road in Osteen with support from the Florida Forest Service (FFS), the City of DeBary, and Seminole County. The fire is currently at 25% containment. The FFS is using tractors to establish a containment perimeter and performing aerial water drops to control the fire.

As a precaution, emergency teams are protecting multiple structures and a section of Pell Road is also closed to support emergency operations. The County has arranged for the Fairgrounds to shelter affected residents' large animals should the need arise.

While there is currently no need to evacuate the area, the Emergency Management Division is positioned to utilize the emergency notification system to inform residents in the impacted areas about potential refuge for them and their animals and communicate any other relevant information as needed. The County will continue to monitor the situation and provide updates as new information becomes available.
