Tourist and Convention Development Tax
Tourist and Convention development tax is a local option transient rental tax collected by Volusia County. Every person who rents, leases or lets for consideration any living quarters for a term of 6 months or less is exercising a taxable privilege.
If you rent a bed, room, apartment, house, condo, hotel, motel, recreational vehicle, watercraft, etc. for a term of 6 months or less, you are responsible for collecting and remitting this tax.

For payments online, Volusia County has contracted with a third party vendor who charges a service fee to provide this service. The service fee is currently $1.50 for E-check payments or 2.6% with a $1.95 minimum for credit card payments.
Registration and payment of taxes does not guarantee compliance with other state and local laws. Please contact your city and county zoning departments to determine whether short-term rentals are permitted in your area, and if so, for what duration.
