Technical Rescue Team

The Volusia County Technical Rescue team (TRT) is comprised of personnel from the Fire Rescue Division responding to any specialized rescue incident that is beyond the capabilities of the first responding engine companies. 

Team members have received training in rope, swiftwater/flood, confined space, vehicle/machinery, trench, structural collapse, lost person/wilderness search and anmial technical rescue. 

Volusia County TRT operates from Station 35 in Lake Helen and utilizes three heavy rescue squads stationed throughout Volusia County. Team members can respond as a light technical rescue team under the Florida Urban Search and Rescue system (FLUSAR) at all times within Volusia County. The TRT also participates as part of the State Agricultural Response team (FLSART) to the local region for large animal rescue.  

The team stands ready and trained to respond to any disaster in Volusia County.
