Public Service and Communications Services Tax

Volusia County Ordinance # 01-14, adopted June 21, 2001, amended the Public Service Tax Ordinance and levied a Communications Services Tax.

  • Public Service Tax - a 10% tax on electricity and metered or bottled gas (natural liquefied petroleum gas or manufactured) purchased in unincorporated Volusia County. This tax will appear on utility bills. For more details click here to view Chapter 114, Article V of the Volusia County Code of Ordinances.
  • Communications Services Tax – Beginning on January 1st, 2024, the ordinance requiring a Communication Services Tax shall no longer be levied upon in the unincorporated area of Volusia County. For questions regarding the Communication Services Tax in the incorporated area of Volusia County, please contact the city in which you reside in.
