Primary Election Day is Aug. 20, but voters don't have to wait until then to cast their ballots. Registered voters can beat the rush by voting early. Seven early voting sites will be open in Volusia County from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Aug. 10 to 17.

The heat advisories in Volusia County and other parts of Florida have also meant warmer ocean temperatures. Volusia County's waters are hovering around 83.5 degrees - still cool enough to be comfortable, but not dangerously hot.
Volusia County Emergency Management officials recommend that people without air conditioning escape dangerous temperatures by finding cool places.
Be sure to take the necessary precautions and try to work in the morning before the temperatures get too high.
