GIS customers
GIS provides technical support to users throughout the county. Automated mapping and geographic analysis services are provided primarily to those departments and divisions which do not have their own GIS staff or equipment. GIS staff accomplish on average more than 1,000 separate work orders annually for our internal customers.
The GIS Section also provides core system support, maintaining the enterprise data library as well as support for all the interactive map services available on the Volusia County website. The GIS Section ensures integrative services between GIS and various enterprise applications occur seamlessly including the Growth and Resource Management Department’s AMANDA permitting and land management application, Public Works Lucity computerized maintenance management system (CMMS), and Fire Services ACS-Firehouse and Deccan applications.
In addition, Volusia County GIS serves as a resource to local, regional, state and federal agencies including our 16 municipalities, the Volusia County School Board, the Volusia Council of Governments (VCOG), the Volusia Transportation Planning Organization (TPO), the East Central Florida Regional Planning Council (ECFRPC), the St Johns River Water Management District (SJRWMD), the Florida Division of Emergency Management (FDEM), and the US Geological Survey (USGS). The county's GIS team is also involved with several state and Central Florida GIS coordination initiatives.
