Pre-incident planning

To increase Volusia County Fire Services' readiness for emergecy incidents in the community, our firefighters visit businesses throughout the county to develop pre-fire incident surveys. These surveys record information about the businesses in advance so firefighters will know the best way to extinguish a fire in a particular building and handle other emergency situations.

The surveys are developed into plans that inform firefighters in advance about the building's construction, floor plan, location of hazardous materials, and areas that are vital to the business.
