Residents who live in unincorporated areas of Volusia County are provided waste services through Volusia County's Solid Waste and Recycling Division.
Residents are charged for service by an annual $255 non-ad-valorem assessment per residential unit.
Volusia County contracts with FCC Environmental Services to provide garbage collection to residents living in single-family homes or multi-family dwellings with no more than four units.
Single-family homes on more than 10 acres are required by law to provide their own proper disposal of waste and may choose to participate in the county's subscription services by calling the Solid Waste and Recycling Division at:
386-257-6021 Daytona Beach
386-943-7889 West Volusia

All materials meant for collection (household garbage, recycling or yard waste) must be at the curb by 6 a.m. on the proper pick-up day.
Garbage pickup is once a week in the 95-gallon cart that is provided free of charge. Materials must be enclosed in this secure container and placed within 10 feet of the curb by 6 a.m. on the designated pick-up day. The hauler has until 8 p.m. to collect the waste.
Collection for “bulky” items is limited to four (4) pieces per week and includes: furniture, mattresses, appliances, carpet, boxes of “junk”, tires (with or without rims), swing sets, water heaters, equipment or the like. These four (4) pieces will be collected on the scheduled garbage collection day.
Yard waste is picked up at the curb once a week and mulched at the landfill for reuse. The equivalent of eight (8) 32-gallon containers, not to exceed four (4) cubic yards per household can be picked up each week.
Yard waste means vegetative organic matter resulting from the routine landscaping maintenance of the grounds of a developed residential property. Collection includes: grass, leaves, palm fronds, yard rakings, shrub and tree trimmings. Please contain all small debris (rakings, grass clippings, acorns, pine cones, spanish moss, the "boots" off palm trees, etc.) either in plastic bags or in 32-gallon garbage containers. Containers and bags must weigh less than 60 pounds apiece.
Palm fronds and limbs need to be neatly stacked (no need for bundles). Limbs may not exceed 4 ft. in length or 1 ft. in diameter and must weigh less than 60 pounds apiece.
Please DO NOT place yard waste in your 96-gallon cart.
Please DO NOT mix yard waste with any other types of waste.

Note: A great way to recycle unwanted items still in good shape is by taking the item to an area thrift shop. For more information, see what you can recycle.
