About the Program
What Are License Plate Readers?
License plate readers (LPRs) are high-speed cameras that capture images of vehicle license plates and compare them against law enforcement databases to enhance public safety.
Capture
Cameras capture images of license plates on vehicles entering or exiting select County park facilities. Only the rear license plate is photographed—not vehicle occupants.
Compare
Plate information is automatically compared against state and national law enforcement databases, including stolen vehicle lists, AMBER Alerts, and Silver Alerts.
Alert
If a match is found, law enforcement is notified immediately. This enables rapid response to recover stolen vehicles, locate missing persons, or apprehend suspects.
