Mission:
To achieve excellence in administering federal, state and local community development and housing programs through quality planning and monitoring.
Overview:
The Grants Administration Activity is responsible for research and assessment of community needs, planning and developing strategies for addressing community needs, making applications for funding to implement strategies, monitoring established programs for regulatory compliance, and implementing capital improvements. Grants Administration works in support of other service areas within Community Assistance.
Community Development Block Grant (CDBG)
The primary objective of the CDBG program is the development of viable urban communities by providing decent housing, a suitable living environment and expanding economic opportunities, principally for persons of low and moderate income.
Emergency Solutions Grant (ESG)
The Emergency Solutions Grant (ESG) Program helps states and localities provide facilities and services to meet the needs of homeless people.
Home Investment Partnership Program (HOME)
The HOME program provides federal funding to state and local governments to support affordable home ownership and rental housing.
Neighborhood Stabilization Program (NSP)
The federally funded Neighborhood Stabilization Program (NSP) provides funds to Volusia County to acquire and redevelop abandoned and foreclosed properties that might otherwise become sources of abandonment and blight within NSP defined areas of greatest need.
State Housing Initiatives Program (SHIP)
Florida Housing administers the State Housing Initiatives Partnership program (SHIP), which provides funds to local governments as an incentive to create partnerships that produce and preserve affordable homeownership and multifamily housing.
Justice Assistance Grant (JAG) Program
The JAG Program is a blend of the previous Byrne Formula and Local Law Enforcement Block Grant Programs. This program allows states, tribes and local governments to support a broad range of activities.
Dori Slosberg Driver Education Grant
The county, by ordinance, established a driver and traffic safety education program funded through collection of $5 for each civil traffic fine. The grant funds are to enhance driver safety education programs in public or nonpublic schools within the county.
Children and Families Advisory Board (CFAB) Grant Funding
The CFAB provides recommendations for grant funding to the County Council in a variety of service areas focused on children and families within Volusia County.
