HOME Investment Partnerships Program
The HOME program provides federal funding to state and local governments to support affordable home ownership and rental housing. The specific intent of the program is to:
- Provide decent affordable housing to lower-income households
- Expand the capacity of nonprofit housing providers
- Strengthen the ability of state and local governments to provide housing
- Leverage private-sector participation
The HOME program may be used for homeowner rehabilitation, homebuyer activities and rental housing activities. A minimum of 15 percent of the program funds are set aside for use by nonprofit Community Housing Development Organizations (CHDOs).
