Social Worker in the Libraries Program
To many people, finding and applying for assistance can be overwhelming. The Social Worker in the Libraries program is designed to help people identify the appropriate agency, service and how to apply. Social workers will travel among Volusia County's public libraries to meet individually with residents to identify their specific needs and guide them to the appropriate agency.
A resident is encouraged to meet with a social worker, regardless of their need, to identify potential resources. Information and referrals may be generated for, including but not limited to, the following areas:
- Food/ SNAP/ WIC
- Housing information
- Employment
- Health insurance
- Legal services
- Substance abuse
- Mental health
A resident may visit a social worker during walk-in hours or schedule an appointment. Below is a link to the social workers' availability at multiple library branches:
