Irene Bailey is a cum laude graduate of the University of Central Florida with a bachelor’s degree in fine art and art education. She received a fellowship to study painting under Lowell Nesbit at the Atlantic Center for the Arts and has won numerous awards at outdoor arts shows and museum exhibitions including several best in show prizes. Her paintings can be found in many public and private collections across Florida.
Bailey lives in New Smyrna Beach, close enough to the ocean to hear the waves rolling in. She always wanted to paint and travel and so after many years of painting, teaching and traveling to exotic places around the world, she feels like her ambitions, like her art, are in full bloom. Although her paintings are realistic, her true subject matter is the scintillating, sultry sunlight and the abstract patterns that the light casts on Florida’s flowers and foliage. The end result is a sensuous celebration of the beauty of nature.
