“My dream of becoming an artist started when I was seven years of age in my beautiful homeland of Columbia. It is an ongoing dream. Each day I look for the laughter, the surprise, and the unseen to become seen; this is when my art takes form and sings to me. The artist is a person who works to build a world of color, hope, peace and communication. In 1979 I was afforded the opportunity to commit myself totally to painting. Since then my inspiration has come mainly from everyday life situations. Sharing myself with people of diverse groups, nationalities and cultures is my ‘vitamin,’ my surge in energy. People give me life and I transform that onto the canvas to become a living memory of each day. Life is indeed a gift from the giver of all gifts, one to be shared and enjoyed.” – Alberto Gomez
