“It would take hundreds of paintings to effectively depict the variety of lifestyles and environments of Volusia County. The four images I used were chosen somewhat randomly and aren’t meant to represent the whole county but they coincidentally represent some of the wide range of elements and contrasts in the region. In one image, the tumultuous Atlantic contrasts the gently flowing river. In another, the frenetic car race contrasts the floating skydiver. The crashes of the waves and the screaming car engines contrast the silence of a parachutist and the serene nature sounds of the secluded rivers.” – Jeff Whipple
