Land Management Plans
Land Management Plans (LMPs) are developed for each conservation property owned or managed by the County of Volusia. A LMP guides the activities allowed and research-based management practices and goals for each property. The purpose of a LMP is to describe the current conditions of the property and establish goals to preserve and/or improve the conservation and ecological values of the property. The County of Volusia conservation lands are purchased with the intent to protect the existing natural communities and restore them to a healthy condition, if needed, while also being utilized by the public for passive recreation that does not affect management activities or natural resources on the site. The LPM generally includes how the county will address issues such as:
- Natural Habitat/Plant Community Assessment
- Wildlife Management
- Exotic Species Management (Plant and Animal)
- Prescribed Fire Management
- Recreational Activities
- Education Opportunities
