Community Redevelopment Act
Approved by the Florida Legislature in 1969 (Chapter 163, Part III), assists local governments in eliminating and preventing slum and/or blighted conditions, and allows local governments to create Community Redevelopment Areas and Community Redevelopment Agencies.
As a charter county, Volusia County exercises the powers of the Community Redevelopment Act through the entire county. However, Volusia County has delegated authority to certain municipalities to establish Community Redevelopment Agencies within their municipality. The county oversees the reporting for seventeen CRAs, located across ten municipalities throughout Volusia County.
