Mission: To safely dispose of all solid waste material generated in Volusia County. To develop and maintain recycling and education programs to reduce solid waste by 30 percent as mandated by the 1988 State Solid Waste Management Act.  

Residents who live in the unincorporated areas of Volusia County are provided waste services through Volusia County’s Solid Waste Division. Residents are charged for service by an annual $297 non-ad-valorem assessment per residential unit.

MARTIN LUTHER KING JR. DAY HOLIDAY COLLECTION SCHEDULE

For unincorporated Volusia County residents (any place outside all city limits), there will be no change to the garbage, recycling, bulk waste or yard waste collection on Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Monday, January 19, 2026. If your normal collection day is Monday, please place items at the curb by 6 a.m. for normal collection. 

Both the West Volusia Transfer Station and the Tomoka Farms Road Landfill will maintain normal hours of operation on Martin Luther King Jr. Day.

Volusia County Solid Waste Administration offices will be closed in observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day on Monday, January 19, 2026. Administration offices will re-open Tuesday, January 20, at 8 a.m.

It's a daily dilemma in many households - "Is this recyclable?"

Unfortunately, despite the intentions of well-meaning people across the state, Florida's recycling efforts are not as successful as they could be. There are several reasons for that. The first, most people who recycle have no idea how the journey from the recycle bin all the way to the process of creating recycled materials works. Another problem, many people assume they know what's recyclable - but they don't.

Learn your collection days or submit a request for service

Learn the collection days for your address or submit a request for service for household garbage, recycling and yard waste collection. 

This link will provide a map with a dialog box for the resident to enter their address. Matched address(es) are returned for the user to select. An address selection (done by clicking on a matched address) will have the application map the location and return the appropriate collection days. A link will also be provided to submit a request for service.

This application is not optimized for mobile devices. Mobile device users that experience problems should enter a request for service (including requests for collection days for specific addresses).
