RULES FOR USE OF VOLUSIA COUNTY WASTE FACILITIES

• Engaging in conduct that creates a safety risk to yourself, other customers, or employees, as determined by County personnel, is prohibited at Volusia County waste facilities. This includes, but is not limited to, doing the following things:


• Follow all instructions, notices, prohibitions, or directions given or posted by Volusia County staff at the waste facilities.
  
  
  • Wait your turn and do not cut in front of others.
  • Do not sling material when off-loading.
  • Any people not actively unloading must remain in the vehicle.
  • Keep pets and minors in the vehicle at all times.
  • Stay within 5 feet of your vehicle.
  • Be aware of lightning and animal activity.
  • Follow instructions, including signs and verbal instructions, about road and vehicles.
  • Follow directions about where to dispose of waste and what area to use.
  • Do not smoke in areas designated "no smoking."
  • Clean out in designated area.
  • Promptly follow instructions from County Staff.


• Threatening, abusing, intimidating, or attempting to intimidate other customers or employees is prohibited at Volusia County waste facilities.
  
  
  • This includes, but is not limited to, threating words or actions and/or the use of profane or derogative language or racial slurs.


• Any other acts prohibited by law are prohibited at Volusia County waste facilities.
  
  
  • Obey all posted speed limit and traffic signs.
  • Alcohol and illegal drugs not permitted on site.

Violation of these rules may result in issuance of a trespass warning and expulsion from the premises.

Holiday schedule

• New Year's Day, Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day: The Tomoka Landfill and West Volusia Transfer Station are CLOSED.
• Martin Luther King Day, Presidents Day, Good Friday, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Columbus Day and Veterans Day: The Tomoka Landfill and West Volusia Transfer Station are OPEN.

Minimum rate: $4 per transaction
Vehicles over 2.5 cubic yard capacity will be charged by weight – per ton

Class I - Garbage: $38.78 / ton
Class III - Construction and demolition: $38.78 / ton
Yard trash and land clearing: $31.44 / ton
Clean debris - (Clean dirt, mulch, chips, & white goods (household applicances only)): $19.39 / ton
Tires (vehicle): $180.26 / ton

Tires (vehicle) - for county residents: Four each free on Saturdays

Tires (truck/oversized): $301.82 / ton
Tires (heavy equipment/off-road): $301.82 / ton
Asbestos: $209.60 / ton

Special waste 
The Solid Waste director will determine, as needed, minimum twice waste class established rate

Notes:
1. Out-of-county, mixed loads, loads received after or before normal operation hours, and unsecured loads shall be charged double the established rates.
2. Oversized tires are defined by tire recycling contract as 11R24.5 or larger, or as determined by the director.
