This office is primarily responsible for preparation, coordination and implementation of the Volusia County Comprehensive Plan and Zoning Ordinance. The comprehensive plan provides guidance for the physical growth of the county through the development of sound plans, programs and policies. The Zoning Ordinance provides permitted uses and development standards consistent with the comprehensive plan. This office reviews applications for development, rezonings, special exceptions, and variances to insure conformity with the policies and development regulations outlined in the Volusia County Comprehensive Plan and Zoning Ordinance.
The Planning and Land Development Regulation Commission (PLDRC) public hearings for June 18, 2026 and July 16, 2026 will be held at 9:00 am in the Volusia County Historic Courthouse Courtroom, 125 W. New York Avenue, DeLand, FL 32720. For more information, contact Planning at planning@volusia.org.
